Maza will always be one of my favorite films of all time. It was the first independent film I ever saw and it changed my life. It is a story of love, loss and a lot of struggle. A girl finds her soulmate and something more than that day-dreaming prince charming she’s going for a date with. But then again, what guy doesn’t want to be on the back of a horse? There’s also an amazing soundtrack by Sigala which makes this movie even more epic! So here’s to you, Maza!
What is the story of Maza?
In this film, the main character, Amal, meets a guy named Mohammed and they fall in love. After a while, Amal starts to notice other guys looking for relationship with her, so she runs away to be with her childhood friend, Ayesha. However, Ayesha has also been visiting the nearby village and is looking for love too. So when Amal and Ayesha come to the conclusion that they can’t be together, they get married and start living in the nearby village. However, Ayesha doesn’t like her partner and starts heading back to her hometown all the time, so Amal and Mohammed end up having a kid with her.
How does it feel to be an all-boy film?
There’s nothing quite like an all-boy film, especially when it’s a romantic comedy! No one has to play any other character in the film, so there’s really nothing to take notice of. The only thing that really stands out to me about this film is the incredible soundtrack. It’s such a charming, fresh and easy listening collection of electronic music that you can hear in the air when you sit down and relax.
You can’t buy love in this movie!
This one is a no-brainer, but if you have an issue with love and relationships, you’ll love this movie. It is one of those films where you feel so bad for the main characters that you want to help them out. The relationship between Amal and Ayesha is so fake, so contrived and so full of complications that you can’t help but root for the happy couple. The same can go for the rest of the characters as well, so when you see the movie you don’t feel like you’re in on a story line or two, you feel like you’re in on the day-to-day realities of the characters.
Even though people hate it, there’s a lot of heart in this movie
This is one of those films that you can’t help but feel bad for. It’s such a sweet, heartwarming story of two kids growing up in a small village and figuring out who they are as people through hard times. It’s also such a great representation of a family, which is so rare in blockbuster films.
The soundtrack is phenomenal!
The soundtrack to Maza is so powerful and special because it tells a story about two cultures, two generations, two peoples. It tells of love, loss, and a lot of struggle. It’s really really beautiful to listen to and it gives you a really good idea of what it’s like to be a new generation. You don’t think about the money or the car or anything like that, because you’re thinking about the people, the music and how they connect you to that people in a big, big way.

The only really thing that stands out about this film is the incredible soundtrack by Sigala. It makes everything sound so epic and yet so simple. It’s almost as if she wrote the movie herself. The only other thing that stands out about this film is the love story between Amal and Ayesha, who also happens to be her favorite character.
